Don't Miss Out!:

Harness the Power of Body Language in Your Workplace

  • Did you know that it only takes seven seconds for someone to formulate their first impression of you?

  • Did you know that people believe what they see in your body language over what they hear in your verbal message?
  • Did you know that your business colleagues are constantly telling you what they think and feel without ever saying a word?

Science tells us that nonverbal communication rules in the workplace. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t consciously aware of the process.

Carol Kinsey Goman, an international leader in nonverbal communication, will be in Green Bay to share insight on the power of body language from her new book, "The Nonverbal Advantage."

In her tenth business book, Kinsey Goman uses her personal experiences and background in therapy and coaching to pinpoint the signs of fear, honesty, joy, indecision, frustration and much more with the nonverbal perception tools we have, but don’t often utilize. Perhaps most importantly, she uses examples and provides tools to successfully communicate in the workplace without saying a word.

Join PRSA members and business professionals from throughout Northeast Wisconsin in learning how to take an innate (but latent) talent and turn it into a powerful professional skill.

Kinsey Goman will discuss how to:

  • Gain the "seven second advantage" and make a lasting positive impression.
  • Project confidence and credibility.
  • Decode the silent signals of agreement, anger, discomfort, resistance, high/low confidence, deception and boredom.
  • Use body language to build or break rapport.
  • Optimize the power of touch.
  • Project your natural charisma.
  • Interpret the five "Cs" of reading body language (congruence, context, culture, clusters, consistency).
  • Translate nonverbal communication across cultures.

Bring your boss and treat your staff to this professional development event at Wisconsin Public Service, 700 N. Adams Street, Green Bay. Space is limited to 60 people, so please register as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

The "New North" Brand: Marketing the Unexpected

"North of what you expect."

It's the tag line for New North - the 18-county region in which we all live, work and play. But how and why did the New North brand come to be? Find answers to this question and many more at the next PRSA meeting on September 9 at the Aurora Baycare Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center, Green Bay.

Presenters Melissa Fike and Jackie Sharkey of Coalesce Marketing and Josh Morby of Nation Consulting will discuss the New North branch and how PR and marketing efforts work in tandem to promote the region's opportunities and assets. Attendees will also learn how to leverage the New North brand through co-branding.

Please register by Friday, September 5 to reserve your spot. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for guests and $15 for students.

Step-by-Step: Register for PRSA Meetings Online
by: Marilyn Bazett-Jones

When using the online registration tool, be sure to continue through ALL THE STEPS until the system THANKS YOU! After putting your meeting in your cart and going through the checkout, some are stopping at the screen that says "Please bring your payment with you to the next meeting." But it is important to click "here" on the next line that asks if you want to pay at the door. (All meetings are to be paid at the door with cash or check.)

Now, you're almost there. You will get a screen with "Registration Receipt" in an orange bar. SCROLL DOWN to the link at the bottom that says "Click here when finished." Do not click your "back" button. The system will then THANK YOU (and brings members back to the announcements page). You will then get a PRSA payment receipt in your e-mail.

Seems like a lot of steps? Maybe, but, trust me, when you get the hang of it, it's super quick! And it saves us a lot of manual work.
